Speaking to The Light, As if, I Can
Berlin Art Institute, 2024, Berlin, DE
Co-curated by Aarushi Zarthoshtimanesh and Marwa Elrifai
In this post-residency solo presentation, I present works that move within a threshold between breakdown and persistence. Here, materiality becomes a site of tension, bearing both vulnerability and force while tracing residual imprints of loss across buildings, trees, stone, and fabric.
Through gestures of rupture, erosion, and recomposition, the work maps light as it moves through these surfaces as collective and personal histories. Across metal, wood, fabric, papier-mâché, and ink, these layered surfaces carry a tactile dissonance—broken, worn, and often reworked.
